According to news sources, a serious workplace accident claimed the life of a 34-year-old employee on Monday, September 12, 2011. Police responding to the scene of the accident said that the incident took place at approximately 3:30 PM at a railroad tie company.
The worker was on-the-job using a piece of machinery when his arm became trapped in the device which operates with electricity. Despite the fact that he was fatally injured, the employee managed to escape the device when the upper part of the machine descended on top of him, resulting in his death.
The coroner on the case said that the device had a sign that said the machine’s doors should not be open during operation. Yet, there were no doors on the machine because they had been removed and placed in a corner.
Now, OSHA has been dispatched to the scene of the accident to investigate and review the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death.
