A worker was killed and two others were rushed to the hospital after a retaining wall collapsed at a Maybrook construction site earlier this month. The accident occurred on Monday, December 2nd at approximately 12:30 p.m. According to reports, the workers were pouring concrete at the construction site when the retaining wall came crumbling down and hit the three workers. One of the construction crew members was rushed to the Westchester Medical Center by responding emergency crews for treatment. The news reports claim that he suffered “multiple injuries” in the incident. Another worker was transported to the Orange Regional medical Center via ambulance.
The emergency rescue crews worked to lift the collapsed wall off the body of a third worker who was declared dead at the scene of the accident. It took them hours to extricate the body from the rubble. Investigations are underway, as worker safety administrations work to determine what caused the devastating wall collapse. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is expected to investigate the incident closely.
